Leave the coast behind and climb into one of Central Vietnam’s most remarkable mountain landscapes on this Danang – Bach Ma National Park Trekking & Camping: 2 Days adventure. Beginning and ending in Da Nang, the journey blends forest trekking, waterfall exploration, wildlife observation and a night beneath the mountain sky.
Among our nature-focused Danang Tours, this itinerary is designed for travellers who want more than a quick sightseeing visit. You will follow shaded rainforest paths to the Five Lakes, approach the dramatic Do Quyen Waterfall. Moreover, Bach Ma’s weather shapes every experience. Mist may drift through the forest without warning, stones remain slippery even on sunny days. And the mountain’s peak can feel surprisingly cool after sunset. With guidance from an experienced local team, first-time trekkers can explore the park safely. While learning how to move responsibly through its protected ecosystem.
The Five Lakes, Do Quyen Waterfall and Hai Vong Dai are among the park’s officially recognised nature trails and attractions.
Day 1: Da Nang – Bach Ma National Park – Hai Vong Dai – Forest Camping
Meals: Lunch and Dinner
07:00–07:30 – Departure from Da Nang
Our tour guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in central Da Nang. We then travel north through coastal countryside towards Bach Ma National Park.
The drive normally takes you around two hours, depending on the departure location and traffic. During the journey, the guide introduces the mountain’s ecosystem, the planned walking route and essential trekking rules.
09:30 – Arrival and Trail Preparation
At the park entrance, the team completes the necessary registration procedures. After a short safety briefing, you will check rain protection, drinking water. As well as personal equipment before continuing towards the upper mountain area.
The road to the peak is steep and winding. For travellers who are prone to motion sickness should take suitable medication before the ascent.
11:30 – Lunch in a Designated Service Area
You will enjoy lunch at an authorised dining or service area before starting the afternoon trek. The meal may include rice, seasonal vegetables, chicken, pork or tofu. It depends on dietary requirements and local availability.
Since May 2025, visitors have not been allowed to bring food into principal walking trails and sightseeing areas. Such as Hai Vong Dai, the Five Lakes and Do Quyen Waterfall. Note, meals must therefore be arranged only in permitted locations.
13:00 – Trek to Hai Vong Dai
Next, you will begin the first forest walk towards Hai Vong Dai, the stone observation tower near the peak of Bach Ma. Mossy paths and fragments of old mountain villas recall the period when Bach Ma served as a hill retreat.
Besides, on a clear afternoon, the viewpoint can reveal forested ridges, Cau Hai Lagoon and the distant coastline. However, the peak frequently gathers mist, so the view is never guaranteed. Low clouds are not necessarily a disappointment—they give the mountain its quiet, mysterious character.
Local guide’s note: Do not rush across moss-covered stones, even when they appear dry. Humidity keeps the surface slippery, and short, balanced steps are safer than long strides.
15:00 – Nature Walk and Campsite Check-in
Then, you will continue traveling along a gentle forest section. While our tour guide points out ferns, orchids, butterflies and possible bird activity. Especially, Bach Ma is valued for its rich biodiversity, so wildlife should be observed quietly and never fed or approached.
Later, you will arrive at the designated campsite and set up the tents with assistance from the support team. You will camp in only where park management permits it; wild camping inside protected forest areas is not included.
17:30 – Mountain Sunset
If the sky remains open, you will take a short-guided walk to a suitable viewpoint for sunset. Note, temperatures often fall quickly once the sun disappears, so keep a light jacket close at hand.
18:30 – Camp Dinner
You will enjoy a freshly prepared dinner in the authorised camping or service zone. The menu is kept warm and practical, with dishes such as grilled meat or tofu, vegetables, soup and rice.
After enjoying dinner, you will gather around the communal area for tea and conversation. Here, you should avoid opening fires, loud music and taking independent night walks to protect the forest and reduce disturbance to wildlife.
21:00 – Overnight in Tents
You will rest inside your tent while listening to insects, wind and distant forest sounds.
Overnight: Tent at an approved campsite in Bach Ma National Park.
Day 2: Sunrise – Five Lakes Trail – Do Quyen Waterfall – Da Nang
Meals: Breakfast and Lunch
05:30 – Sunrise at Hai Vong Dai
In the morning, you will wake up early and return to Hai Vong Dai for sunrise, if the weather permits. Moreover, the morning light is often the best choice for landscape photography. Because the air is cooler and the mountain layers may be more clearly defined.
Note, mist can arrive within minutes. You should protect cameras and phones with a dry bag rather than relying only on a backpack cover.
07:00 – Breakfast
Then, you will return to the authorised camping or service area for breakfast. A simple mountain meal may include bread, eggs, noodles, fruit, tea or coffee.
Note: the tour schedule includes breakfast on Day 2, while no breakfast is provided on the first day.
08:00 – Break Camp
Afterward, you will pack personal belongings and check the campsite carefully. The support team removes the tents and confirms that no rubbish or equipment has been left behind.
08:30 – Trek Through the Five Lakes
Next, you will enter the Five Lakes Trail. Where a succession of natural pools and small waterfalls lies among granite rocks and thick vegetation. The colour of the water changes with the light, ranging from clear green to deep blue.
In addition, the route includes tree roots, damp rock and several uneven sections. Besides, our tour guide will show you where to place your feet and when to use the available ropes or handholds.
Note, swimming may be restricted because of weather, water levels or park regulations. For guests should enter the water only after receiving permission from the guide.
So, the Five Lakes form a connected natural system along a mountain stream and are one of Bach Ma’s signature attractions.
10:30 – Continue to Do Quyen Waterfall
You will follow the forest route towards the top of Do Quyen Waterfall. Named after the rhododendrons associated with the area, the waterfall drops dramatically through the mountainside.
The flowering rhododendrons are commonly associating in March and April. While the waterfall becomes more powerful following periods of rain.
From the upper viewpoint, you will admire the waterfall and the forested valley. If the trail is open and conditions are safe, active travellers may descend the long staircase towards the lower observation point. Note, this optional section involves hundreds of steps and a demanding return climb.
Local guide’s note: The descent is easier than the climb back. Save sufficient water and energy for the ascent and never attempt the lower viewpoint during heavy rain or poor visibility.
12:30 – Return to the Designated Lunch Area
Then, you will leave the forest trail and enjoy lunch at an authorised service area. This is also time to change into dry clothing and rest before the return journey.
14:00 – Depart for Da Nang
Afterward, you will board the private vehicle and descend from Bach Ma. In addition, you will have short comfort stops in everywhere you need.
16:30–17:00 – Arrival in Da Nang
In the late afternoon, you will return to your hotel in central Da Nang. The tour concludes after two days of rainforest trails, mountain camping and waterfall exploration.
Walking times, trail order and sightseeing stops may be adjusted according to weather, group fitness and instructions from Bach Ma National Park.
