The first thing you notice in Phu Quoc’s northern forest is the change in sound. Traffic fades, dry leaves crackle underfoot, and the trail winds between tall trees before opening onto glimpses of the coast. This two-day trip gives you time to walk slowly, learn the forest from a local guide and spend a night outdoors.
Among Phu Quoc Island Tours, this journey is for travellers who would rather carry a daypack than follow a beach itinerary. We trek on accessible trails near Ganh Dau and Bai Thom, share simple island meals. As well as camping at an arranged site near the national park. The exact walking route depends on weather, trail conditions and access confirmed before departure.
Day 1: Ganh Dau Forest Trek and a Night Under Canvas
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Morning — Into the northern forest
After picking up, you will travel to north to the Ganh Dau area. Our tour guide will check everyone’s footwear, water and rain protection before setting off. The opening section is a good place to find your walking rhythm. The roots cross the path, patches of earth can be slick and there is plenty to see when you stop looking only at your feet.
Next, you will follow an accessible forest trail, with breaks to listen for birds and examine the plants our guide points out. Note, keep some space between walkers on narrow sections but stay close enough to see where the guide steps. Even in dry weather, shaded ground can hold moisture.
Midday — Lunch on the trail
Then, you will stop at a suitable rest point for a packed lunch, fruit and drinking water. Bring all food wrappers back with you; there are no bins along the trail.
Afternoon — A quieter stretch of forest
Afterward, you will continue walking at a measured pace before meeting the vehicle and transferring to the arranged campsite near the park. In addition, our guide will adjust the afternoon walk if rain makes the path unsafe or access changes.
Evening — Camp dinner
You will settle into your tent and help with small camp tasks if you wish. Dinner features simple, freshly prepared Vietnamese food, with dietary needs arranged in advance. After dark, you use a headlamp when moving around camp and keep food packed away. The night is best spent listening: insects and rustling leaves provide their own soundtrack.
Day 2: Bai Thom Forest Walk and Return to Town
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Morning — Breakfast and a second trail
You will have breakfast at camp, then pack up and check that nothing has been left behind. Then, you will travel toward the Bai Thom side for a guided walk on an accessible trail. This section offers a different feel from the previous day, with forest and coastal scenery close together.
Besides, our tour guide will set the pace according to the group and the ground underfoot. If heavy rain has affected a crossing or trail, the walk will follow a safer approved route instead.
Midday — Lunch and departure
You will enjoy a local lunch after the trek, then return to your accommodation in Phu Quoc. Arrival time depends on the final route, weather and your pickup location.
