At approximately 8:00 AM, you will meet our local guide at your hotel in central Hanoi. After a short briefing, you will travel toward the peaceful countryside along the Red River.
Firstly, you will begin with a gentle bicycle ride through village lanes, vegetable fields and small riverside communities. Depending on local conditions, you may see farmers tending herbs, leafy vegetables, fruit trees or seasonal crops.
In addition, our guide will explain how the Red River has shaped the agriculture and daily life of Hanoi’s surrounding communities. There will be several stops for photographs and informal exchanges with local residents.
Local guide’s note: Village paths can be narrow and shared with farmers, motorbikes and livestock. Ride slowly, keep to the right and follow the guide at intersections.
Next, you will stop at a community home or countryside restaurant for lunch prepared with seasonal ingredients. The menu may include fresh vegetables, tofu, chicken, river fish and other northern Vietnamese specialties. Note, vegetarian meals can be arranged in advance.
After enjoying lunch, you will continue traveling by road toward Ba Vi, one of Hanoi’s greenest rural districts. The drive normally takes around 60–90 minutes, depending on traffic and the location of the morning activities.
On arrival, you will check in at a family-run homestay surrounded by gardens, farms and mountain scenery. Rooms are simple, clean and designed to blend with the local setting.
Later in the afternoon, you will take a guided walk around the host village. Besides, you can meet local farmers and learn about tea cultivation, medicinal plants or seasonal crops. When available, you will join the family in harvesting tea leaves or picking vegetables for dinner.
In the afternoon, you will return to the homestay for a hands-on cooking experience. Moreover, you can help preparing several local dishes using ingredients collected from the garden. Especially, your host may demonstrate traditional methods for making tofu, rolling spring rolls or seasoning grilled meat with native herbs.
In the evening, you will enjoy dinner with the family. The rest of the evening is free for conversation, reading or simply listening to the sounds of the countryside.
Eco practice of the day: Guests are encouraged to refill their bottles, avoid single-use plastic and take only respectful photographs after asking permission.
