07:30–08:00 | Hotel Pickup and Departure from Ho Chi Minh City
In the morning, our local tour guide will meet you at your hotel or a designated pickup point in central Ho Chi Minh City. Then, you will leave the city behind and travel south toward My Tho, the gateway to the Mekong Delta.
During the drive, our tour guide will introduce the region’s network of rivers and canals. As well as explaining how agriculture, fishing and seasonal water levels shape local life.
Local tip: Have breakfast before departure. Bring a reusable water bottle, sun protection and a light rain jacket. Especially during the wet season from approximately May to November.
09:30 | Arrival in My Tho and Mekong River Cruise
You will arrive at the riverside pier and board a local motorboat for a relaxing cruise along the Tien River. This is one of the main branches of the Mekong.
From here, you can observe fishing boats, fruit gardens, stilted riverside homes and small islands shaped by fertile alluvial soil. Rather than treating the river as a simple transfer route, our tour guide will explain its importance to transport, agriculture and everyday community life.
Note, please avoid throwing any waste into the river and keep reusable items with you throughout the journey.
10:15 | Tropical Garden and Seasonal Fruit Experience
Next, you will disembark at a quiet village and walk through a tropical garden planted with fruit trees and native vegetation. Depending on the season, you may see pomelo, jackfruit, longan, rambutan, banana or mango trees.
Besides, you will meet a local host and taste a selection of available fruits. In addition, our tour guide will share simple insights into small-scale farming, seasonal harvests. As well as the effects of changing weather and saltwater intrusion on the delta.
Note, fruit varieties depend on the season, so the experience may vary throughout the year.
11:00 | Hand-Rowed Sampan through Palm-Shaded Canals
Afterward, you will step into a traditional sampan for one of the most memorable experiences of the day. A local rower will guide the boat through narrow canals shaded by water coconut palms and tropical vegetation.
Note that, the canals can be busy during peak periods, so remain seated, keep your hands inside the boat and follow the rower’s instructions. Life jackets are provided and should be worn during the ride.
In addition, this activity directly supports local rowers, many of whom are residents of the surrounding villages.
11:45 | Discover a Family-Run Coconut Workshop
Continue to Ben Tre, widely known as Vietnam’s coconut-growing region. Visit a small family-operated workshop to learn how local people turn coconuts into food and useful household products.
Depending on the day’s production schedule, you may observe the preparation of coconut candy, coconut oil or other coconut-based products. You will also learn how coconut husks, shells and leaves can be reused instead of discarded.
Sampling is optional. Please inform your guide in advance if you have allergies or dietary restrictions.
12:30 | Local Mekong Lunch
Enjoy lunch at a garden restaurant or local family home surrounded by tropical greenery. The menu highlights Southern Vietnamese flavors and locally sourced ingredients.
A typical meal may include:

13:45 | Village Cycling or Guided Nature Walk
After lunch, explore the countryside by bicycle. Follow narrow village lanes beneath coconut palms and pass gardens, small bridges, traditional houses and local farms.
The route is generally flat and suitable for casual cyclists. Your guide will maintain a relaxed pace and stop at safe locations to explain local plants, farming activities and village customs.
Travelers who prefer not to cycle may join a guided walk or use an alternative local transfer, subject to availability.
Local tip: Some paths can be uneven or slippery after rain. Wear closed-toe shoes or secure sandals and cycle slowly when crossing small bridges.
14:45 | Tea Break and Community Exchange
Then, you will stop at a local home or garden for tea and a short conversation with your host. Moreover, this is an opportunity to learn about daily life beyond the busy tourist areas.

15:30 | Return Boat Journey
